This book is an introductory must-read for anyone considering living in Belize. It covered all territories and gave an honest account of how safe or unsafe certain areas are. I consider it my go-to reference. There is a plethora of information on the benefits and rules associated with each type of residency status. One other reviewer had complained about there not being enough maps, but I must have a later edition as I found very helpful maps. If one needs more detailed maps, they can be purchased from another source - the included maps were more for reference than deep detail. Excellent, eye opening book about living in Belize. Some of the other books/websites you look at if you are seriously looking at retiring overseas, paint Belize as a trouble-free, tropical paradise. Sluder's book will give you a look at the rest of the story. The prevelance of property crimes (breaking and enterings, thefts...) is honestly presented. The book gives you a breakdown in a "report card" format of the desirability of various areas in the country, so a potential resident can make an informed decision.
